5pm Service

Our 5pm service takes place in church and is available to anyone who wishes to attend.  This service is a very simple, lasting less than 40 minutes.  Due to the governments current guidelines and restrictions there will be no sung worship and we will have social distancing measures will be in place.

It is expected that face coverings should be worn by all those attending a place of worship, remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from COVID-19 and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing.  Exempt from this (as per government guidelines) are: young people under the age of 11; those unable to wear or remove coverings because of a physical or mental disability; those where it will cause you distress.  Please be mindful of hidden disabilities if you see someone not wearing a mask while in our church building.

You can expect a warm, socially distanced welcome, an impacting preach, prayers and spoken hymns.

Covid-19 procedures for 5pm service:
  • Please just come – no need to let us know in advance.
  • If you are able to, please wear a face mask or visor upon your arrival at the church building.  Ensure that both your mouth and nose are entirely covered.  Do not remove your mask until you have exited the building.
  • Please bring a mobile phone (if you have one).  To enable track and trace, we will be asking people who attend to text a designated number so that we have a record of their attendance.  The record will be deleted after 21 days.  Don’t worry if you don’t have a mobile – the Duty Warden will take your name and number the old fashioned way!
  • Please enter through the main door of the church next to the Car Park (the north entrance), unless you need non-stepped access, in which case please use the south entrance as normal.
  • Pre quarantined church Bibles are available to pick up as you enter, but our preference is that you bring your own.
  • Please observe social distancing throughout your time at the church.
  • We have only very limited toilet facilities available.
  • Once you enter the church, please follow the arrows and find a seat. Please don’t stop to chat to someone on the way in as this will cause congestion. There will be a chance to chat to people after the service outside.
If you are unsure what to do when you arrive, please speak to the deputy warden or stewards who will be happy to provide assistance.
  • You are very welcome to remain seated after the service but, when you are ready to leave, please do not pause to chat in the church but exit the church immediately by the south door (by the kitchenette).

It has been a great blessing to join together in the church building for worship but we completely understand that this is not convenient for all of us.  In view of this, our livestreamed services on Sunday mornings continue to be our primary service for the day and are just as much an act of worship as any service held in our church building.

If you have any questions about this service or need to get in touch with us about any other enquiry we will be happy to help.  Please contact us for more information.
